Tampa Bay Fiber Brings High-Speed Internet to STEAM DAY at MacDill Air Force Base

STEAM DAY Attendees Will Have Access to 5G Internet Technology

Tampa, FL (January 28, 2019) –  For the first time in MacDill Air Force Base’s history, civilian personnel will have access to high-speed Internet services during the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Day, which takes place on March 8, 2019, at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), in Tampa, Florida. Locally based Internet provider, Tampa Bay Fiber, will provide wireless high-speed Internet access for the event.

The wireless signal transmitted over the air to infrastructure set-up by Tampa Bay Fiber technicians brings 5G technology Internet access during the event, and once the event ends, it’s easily removed. Tampa Bay Fiber’s 5G wireless Internet access is the fastest connection available in the marketplace.

In the past, the remote location of Hanger 3, MacDill AFB’s special events space, has made it challenging to provide Internet services to the many hosted events like the STEAM Day.

Tampa Bay Fiber built a highly-dependable, optimized network to deliver its cloud communication system. Their network was further extended to connect directly to Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, IBM, Oracle, Netflix, Hulu, Akamai, and many others. This direct connection results in the fastest internet experience for their clients. Unlike other carriers, Tampa Bay Fiber gets their clients closer to the content providers removing throttling and bottlenecks.

“When you host an event like STEAM that is geared toward technology and STEM principles, it is only logical that attendees should have access to fast, reliable Internet during the event. Our technological capabilities allow us to deliver speeds 5-10 times faster than traditional local Internet companies, without the wait times normally associated with fiber builds,” says Ryan Yaldor, Chief Technology Officer of Tampa Bay Fiber.

MacDill AFB hosts the event, in partnership with the Hillsborough County School System, to give students and local partners access to the base and hands-on, problem-solving education in the subjects of STEAM. These essential subjects provide some of the best careers for students and are an opportunity to highlight the state-of-the-art technological innovations and advancements that the U.S. military implements to be leaders on the global stage.

Using next generation equipment from vendors such as Siklu, Mimosa, Cisco, and Ubiquiti allows Tampa Bay Fiber to deliver reliable service to its clients. PBX -Change was also the first company in the Tampa area to deploy Siklu’s EH-8010 delivering 10Gbps speeds over the air. They look forward to delivering their next generation service to MacDill AFB and the STEAM Day attendees.
